PUT DOWN THAT PHONE: A new family adventure

I have this fear that what my children will remember most about me from their childhood is the top of my head. You see, I’m always looking down at my phone. Or .. I  *was* always looking down at my phone. Our business relies on us being responsive and communicative in an instant. Technology has allowed us to do that. I will admit, I became addicted to checking every ping and beep the device makes. But, over the last year I’ve made some major changes and it started with this: phone jail.

When the kids are first home from school, at dinner and bedtime, our devices are in jail. This was the start of something cool. When we locked up our phones we started playing silly little games: fast-paced charades, a scavenger hunt, even simple physical challenges. After a while we realized … “this is really fun, maybe other families would want to play.” Fast-forward almost a year and we have a board game we created called, FAMILY SHOWDOWN.

We’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to help produce this dream. If enough people make a pledge, we reach our funding goal, and you get your copy of the game (you aren’t charged unless we raise the money necessary). The board and characters are designed by one of our favorite artists, Paul Friedrich.

We hope you love the game as much as we do. There are some fun rewards for pledges so check out the page here.

Thank you for your love and support.

xo, Kim

ps: Here’s our video about the board game launch.
