With a laugh, Penn pointed out that I had been in the same sweatpants for three days. I have no regrets — but I also thought it was time to throw on some makeup, a dress, and have a “date night” driving to pickup takeout. We took the long way home and it felt almost normal. But now that I’ve been in a bra and real shoes for an hour ... I’m over it! How will we re-enter society when real clothes seem IMPOSSIBLE? Happy weekend, friends.

I love seeing everyone’s favorite pictures of 2020. This is mine. My mom got her vaccine in Florida today. It made me cry happy tears knowing we’re rounding the corner on this. I know we have a long road ahead - but I’m so grateful for the doctors, nurses, scientists, and healthcare workers who are keeping us safe. Bring on 2021! #happynewyear2021

We’ve always gifted the kids matching Christmas Jammies and we wear them to bed Christmas Eve (like... even before the video we did this). Penn puts up with it and the dog is still undecided. Candlelight Christmas Eve service on the couch. There are moments when I feel like I’ve grown so accustomed to masking and distancing that I forget “real life”. Then I see our sweet church produce a live stream service, a soloist singing in a mask, a choir singing on zoom - and I start feeling ALL the feelings. Next year, I’ll try to remember how desperately we missed “normal” when I’m circling the parking lot for a spot and squeezing into the packed pews on Christmas Eve. We’re sending you oceans of love this Christmas. Merry Christmas, friends.

I *may* have purchased too many balloons.. but when you’re birthday is two days before Christmas a mom has to go big. This nugget of sunshine is ELEVEN (11!) years old today. His laugh has this way of making my heart go all gooey. He always asks, “how was your day?” and genuinely cares about my answer. And yesterday he told me he’s proud of me for working so hard on our book. ::cue tears:: Happy Birthday, Penn Charles! We love you to the moon and back times a million.
