Gift Ideas For Moms Who Say Don’t Get Me Anything (But Definitely Don’t Need Another Bathrobe)

We may say “don’t get me anything” but what that means is we want something thoughtful and perfect. (No pressure.) Two years ago, Penn and the kids bought me a bathrobe. I sat there, surrounded by ripped paper from gifts I had carefully picked out and wrapped for them. They were looking at me with smiles on their faces, so proud of the maroon, fuzzy robe they threw into the cart on their rushed shopping trip two days prior.

I was kind, but honest. I asked, “Hey family, I’m currently in a bathrobe I already own. What made you think I needed another one?” We had a good laugh, but they got the point: Mom deserves more than the stereotypical gift. Here are some better ideas:

Longchamp Bag

This bag is a classic and has stood the test of time. This will become her go-to bag (that she can fit everything into.)

Leather Sheet Music

If your family has a song (or maybe one from your wedding) what a special way to showcase the story behind the music with a custom gift.

Mom Bracelet

The Flourish Market is a boutique in the Raleigh area that ships nationwide. The team there works with 200+ socially conscious brands that are driving to bring about positive social change.

Kilogear Weighted Leggings

If the mom in your life is offended you got her workout gear for Christmas, tell them your friend Kim is obsessed with this brand. The weighted-vest movement is real and adding weight to walks has so many proven benefits for women. This brand distributes the weight evenly and I wear it around the house or during a workout. I can tell a difference in my arms and booty just by consistently wearing this weighted gear. They’ve got butter soft leggings, a short sleeve, and a shrug.

Cross Body Stanley

I think in a previous life I suffered from severe dehydration because I get anxious if I don’t have a bottle of water with me at all times. This is my new favorite for my walks.

Back and Neck Massager

This summer, I slept weird ONE TIME and my neck hurt for three months. This was the only thing that brought relief. A gift card to a spa is amazing, but this makes daily massages an option.

Pickleball Paddles

Okay yes, we partnered with Selkirk to design these paddles so we are biased BUT Selkirk makes is THE BEST pickleball paddles in the world. Believe it or not, the paddle makes a big difference in your game.

Pickleball Sweatshirt

This is the comfiest, lightweight sweatshirt that is perfect to take you into cooler weather. Who doesn’t love pickleball y’all?

Family Faceoff and What The Flock Board Games

Another shameless plug but we’ve made two games we are very proud of and are 100% mom-approved. When you get her games, you are giving her the gift of time together as a family. (And Moms love that stuff.)

Makeup Travel Bag

I’m a sucker for travel organization products. Especially travel makeup bags since they need to get replaced from time to time. I love getting things like this as gifts.

Cutting Board

If you have a handwritten recipe from a loved one, it can be engraved on this cutting board for a special (but usable) keepsake. Put it on display or put it to use!

Marshmallow Slippers

I know I threw a mini-tantrum when given a robe, but slippers are different. These can be WARMED IN THE MICROWAVE AND THEY SMELL LIKE LAVENDER. I apologize for the all caps, but how cool are these?

Funny Needlepoint Pillow

This is another local (to us in Raleigh) store that ships nationally. I love giving their funny, needlepoint pillows as gifts. Especially if she’s a not a regular Mom, she’s a cool Mom.

Dolly Parton’s Book

What would Dolly do? It’s a question I ask myself on a daily basis. My family is obsessed with Dolly Parton and we have the merchandise to prove it. Lola bought me this book for my birthday. I keep it on the coffee table and flip through the pages all the time.

Nodpod Sleep Mask

I have never loved a traditional sleep mask because of how it can tug on my face if I turn my head in the middle of the night. This is a weighted blanket for your eyes and it’s oh so relaxing.

Lego A-Frame Cabin

Lego is not just for kids. The “Lego-Stage” of parenting was one of my favorites (not stepping on them in the middle of the night or losing the teeniest of pieces needed to complete the project) because we all could slow down and work on something together. I may be the only one at the house building a Lego set on Christmas morning, but I don’t care.

Adult Coloring Book

When I’m stressed, I’ve always been drawn to writing, journaling, or just plain “doodling.” I have adult coloring books and colored pencils around the house and I find it to be so calming.

Laneige Lip Kit Minis

These are the sort of treats moms love, but we rarely buy for ourselves. Such a great stocking stuffer as we go into chapped lips season.

Hear Her Story

Moms get so caught up in everyone else’s story, that sometimes even those closest to her don’t get to hear hers. This book is a fun exercise for your family to know more about Mom!
