It’s no secret that our family loves to travel. As soon as the kids are out of school for summer break, we hit the road as quick as we can to head to our favorite beach spot to celebrate another year of hard work completed. For us, there’s nothing like being at the ocean to help us relax and catch our breath for a few days.
Wherever you are going this summer – by plane, boat, or car – I’ve put together a few of my favorite travel hacks to help you pack well for your next adventure.
Hat Clip
This is my newest and, maybe, favorite travel hack yet. This clip attaches your hat to your beach bag or suitcase. No more trying to stuff your hat carefully into your bag or juggle holding it in your hands. Simply wrap this clip around the handle or strap of your bag and then secure the magnetic clips to the brim of your hat. I keep one of these in my beach bag at all times!
Packing Cubes
These packing cubes keep my things organized in my suitcase, and help me do a better job packing. I know I’m not the only one who packs 28 pairs of underwear for a 4 day trip (who is with me??). I got a set of these for each of the kids as well. I find that we all do a better job of packing efficiently when we use these cubes.
Chair Clips
If you are going to the beach or on a cruise, these chair clips are a must have. These colorful clips keep your beach towel secured to your chair even on the windiest of days. When you are done with your day outside, use your clips to hang your wet swimsuit or towel up to dry.
Portable Clothes Steamer
No matter how carefully I think I’ve packed my clothes, they always come out of the suitcase with wrinkles. I don’t know about you, but I do not want to spend my vacation ironing clothes. This portable steamer is a game changer to quickly and easily steam the wrinkles right out. I like that this one folds up for easy packing.
Portable Phone Charger
It’s a sinking feeling when you are on the go and you see your battery indicator move into the red. I keep one of these portable phone chargers in my bag anytime we travel to avoid getting stranded without my phone. This one can completely charge my phone over 2 times on a single charge. The slim design makes it easy to store in my purse or carry-on bag.
Tide Sink Packs
I’ve shared this hack before, but these Tide sink packets were a lifesaver during our time on The Amazing Race. We used these packets in the hotel sink when we needed to wash out a few clothes – especially socks and underwear. I never travel anywhere without a stash of these in my carry-on bag.
Makeup Brush Holders
This sponge holder and this brush holder are staples in my travel gear. They work double duty by keeping my makeup brushes and blender sponges clean and also keep my toiletry bag clean from makeup residue. It’s a win-win! Plus, the silicone material makes them durable and easy to wash.
Cable Pouch Organizer
Between phones, watches, headphones, reading tables, and all the other electronic devices we always end up with a pile of charging cords when we travel. I love this little organizer to keep all of the cords and extra charging devices organized in one location. It comes in several colors to choose from and is made of a waterproof material to keep your electronics protected.
Folding Travel Mirror
The older I get, the more I appreciate a good, lighted make-up mirror. This portable mirror folds flat for easy transport, has three lighting settings, and recharges via USB. No more trying to do your make-up under questionable hotel bathroom lighting! This is also extra handy when you have several family members trying to get ready in a hotel room at the same time and you need some extra mirror space.
Belt Bag
These belt bags are an everyday staple in my life, but also make for an excellent travel companion. The small, compact size makes it easy to keep all of your essentials close and secure. I love that I can wear it hands free when I’m traveling or exploring. It comes in a wide variety of colors to choose from, and, at this affordable price point, you might want to pick more than one!
Flat Plug Power Strip
If you are traveling with your family, this power strip is a must-have. With its slim design and flat plug, you can easily use this power strip anywhere you need to plug in all.the.things. I keep one of these in the cable pouch organizer I mentioned above, so there’s no more fighting over who gets to use the outlet.
Airplane Phone Holder
If your travel plans include a flight, this phone holder is genius. You can clip it easily to the back of the seat in front of you so you can watch your favorite show hands free. When you aren’t flying, it can attach to your suitcase or fold into a phone stand on your desk. It’s an all around versatile accessory for home and travel!
