If you flip open gift catalogs most companies think dads are only interested in grilling meat and drinking bourbon. Don’t get me wrong, Penn loves those things but there are only so many meat thermometers a man needs. Here are gift ideas if he doesn’t need another pair of grill tongs:
Cup Holder Expander
This cup holder expander mostly for me. My giant water bottles don’t fit into the cupholders of his car. So it counts as a gift for him, but I get the benefit. WIN WIN.
Car Cleaning Gel
I find these oddly satisfying. Penn claims he wouldn’t be offended to receive a car cleaning item as a gift. I think he just hasn’t tried it yet.
Universal Socket Tool
If you own your home, there always seems to be a screw that needs tightening. This universal socket tool is useful and a nice way to remind your hubby there are home projects he has neglected.
Variety Sauce Pack
If there is one thing I know about Penn, it’s that he loves trying a new sauce. This variety pack has 8 different sauces that range from garlicky to fruity to spice. (Note: You can enjoy the sauce and not have to use your grill.)
Self-Heating Coffee Mug
If you’ve seen our latest coffee-themed video you know that both Penn and I constantly lose our coffee cups and then have to head to the microwave to reheat them. This self-heating coffee cup is a game-changer!
Herschel Novel Duffle
Every guy has an old, decrepit duffle bag that they lug to the gym or on a quick weekend getaway. Let’s upgrade this look, shall we?
Nike Dunk Low
Penn no longer wears “dress shoes.” He pairs everything with a pair of sneakers and these color options are among his favorites.
Shoe Cleaning Kit
Penn has become the shoe-cleaning guru in our house, believe it or not, and this kit is his go-to.
Singing Machine Karaoke Mic
I mean, do I have to explain why this is such a hit in our house? It definitely keeps dinners lively (and a little loud.)
Kettlebells
When the pandemic shut down gyms, Penn started building up his own workout space in the garage. Kettlebells are such an effective way to add weight to a strength training workout.
Kilogear Weighted Clothing
We’ve all heard about the weighted-vest movement but we’ve fallen for weights in our clothing! Wear these items around the house or during a workout for an added burn. Whew. These things WORK.
Pickleball Paddles
Okay yes, we partnered with Selkirk to design these paddles so we are biased. But hear us out, Selkirk makes THE BEST pickleball paddles in the world. Believe it or not, the paddle makes a big difference in your game.
Pickleball Shirt
This is another one of our designs. This unisex shirt always gets compliments when Penn wears it around town.
Donation
In our family, we have a tradition of making a donation to their favorite charity. This year we are making donations as gifts to organizations devoted to helping people in Western, NC recover from Hurricane Helene. We put some of our favorites here: theholdernessfamily.com/help-wnc/
Peanut Brittle
This homemade peanut brittle is made by Penn’s uncle and I put it in his stocking or under the tree every year. Warning, once you start eating it you won’t be able to stop.
Custom Map
This is a fun idea to document the different cities that have had an impact on your person, your relationship, or your family. It’s also a very cool Zoom background.
Apple Air Tags
We depend on these probably more than we should. Might as well get keychains too.
Hatch Restore 2 Sunrise Clock
We are trying to eliminate cell phones in our bedroom and having a good alarm clock removes the need to use your phone as an alarm.
JBL Clip 5
This has been a favorite gift for so many people in our life. Clip it on for tunes everywhere!
Family Faceoff and What The Flock Board Games
Another shameless plug but we’ve made two games we are very proud of and are 100% Dad approved. When you get him games, you are giving him the gift of time together as a family. (enter links)
