10 Back To School Faves For Tweens & Teens

As soon as August hits, I go into back to school mode. This mode has changed over the years, especially as the kids have gotten older. The pressure of back to school shopping for endless supply lists is no more. Instead, it’s a mental gear up for the routine of homework, sports, and activities. Regardless, there are still some necessities we need to get through the year. (Plus I do love to get a fresh set of pens and notepads.)

I’ve made a list of some of our favorite back to school finds for tweens and teens. And even if you’re not shopping for markers and crayons, be sure to donate to your teacher’s classroom. They can always use disinfectant wipes, white board markers, tissues, sticky notes, and store gift cards

Senior Throwback Backpacks

Probably the cutest tradition I’ve seen so far this school year is high school seniors who are using “kindergarten backpacks” to show how far they’ve come. (Cue the tears…) If your tween or teen likes to keep a lower profile but needs a new bag, this backpack from Adidas is a great option. It holds EVERYTHING.

Stackable Lunch Pail

These stackable lunch pails are all the rage on Instagram and TikTok, and I love them for older kids. It keeps food cold or hot for up to 4 hours. It also allows them to pack more unique items or leftovers rather than the usual sandwich. (And if you have a traditional lunch box, these slim ice packs are a good buy for a pack of 4.)

Locker Shelf + Magnetic Organizer

Where were these cute options when we were growing up? I am obsessed with locker shelves and magnetic organizers. They come in other colors as well to help your kiddo keep everything (almost) straightened up.

Ink Joy Gel Pens

These top-rated pens are great for your older kids who bullet journal or like to keep a written planner. (But honestly, buy a pack for yourself too… they’re so cute.)

Period Pouch

There’s nothing worse than trying to discreetly sneak a pad or tampon from your bag into your pants pocket to head to the restroom. With this pouch you can grab and go.

Owala Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle

Stanley may be all the rage, but the new hotness is the Owala water bottle. They are spillproof and are sized to slip into backpacks in a way the Stanleys never could. Not to mention, the color combos options are super cute.

Zipper Scrunchies

Stash away some chapstick, cash, or a house key with these discrete scrunchies for the teen that doesn’t want to always carry a bag with them. (Just no test answers please.)

Over The Ear Headphones

Usually students need wired headphones to work on school computers and laptops. If your kid doesn’t like ear buds, these are a great alternative to fit fully over their ears (and at the time of us posting, they are 50% off – score!)

Trapper Keeper

I am so happy retro Trapper Keepers are back and here to stay. I still laugh a little to myself when I see trends I grew up with from the 80s and 90s coming back strong. If your kiddo needs something a little more serious, check out this organizer from Case-It

First & Last Day Signs

There’s nothing like a good eye roll from your tween or teen when you ask for a first day photo. I’ve given up on those cute “all about me” signs you fill out each year, but I think these first/last day signs are a great alternative especially since they go through college. (Cue the tears… again.)
