Did you know there’s an easy button for marriage? We did…we just forget to look for it on occasion. This is one of those occasions. We welcome back Christopher Edmonston, our dear friend and marriage counselor, to the show this week and the timing couldn’t have been better.
Yes, we fight.
While we do laugh a lot and make amusing parodies, we do have our fair share of arguments. To prove it, we actually recorded a real fight in real time. It wasn’t planned, but it’s a risk you can’t when you record videos in your home multiple times a week. In this fight, I felt Penn was laughing at me. But Penn felt strongly that he was just laughing at the situation. Christopher corrects us on how we could havendled the moment and the moments after in a healthier manner. He shows all of us that there is a hidden easy button in every situation – you just have to be willing to look for it.
Christopher also gives us some guidelines for when to engage in conversation and when to let it go. You will probably relate to his example. Have you or your partner been so stressed or overwhelmed that you just don’t feel like talking? Here’s what to avoid when this happens:
What NOT to say: “What is wrong with you?”
What TO say: “You look like you have a lot on your mind. Are you ok?”

Those little things that we can do for our partners is usually right there in front of us, we may be moving to fast to notice it or lack the communication skills to overcover it. Christopher gives us a great example, so you can be on the lookout for your easy button.
