Early on when Penn and I started our weird jobs on the internet, someone told us we should stick to just one thing. They said we should focus on a single channel and a single content type in order to succeed. This person was very qualified. They ran weekend seminars to help people starting new businesses. Clearly they knew best, right? Well, we did the opposite.
Penn and I found the most success at our job when we tried many things. It’s allowed us to pivot and be successful over the years. We’ve made videos, podcasts, blogs, merchandise, books, and games. We’ve had clear core values along the way, but if we took that piece of advice we would have fizzled out quickly.
Frontsies or Backsies?
We get emails from people looking for advice all the time. They ask for advice on parenting, ADHD, marriage, or just plain silly questions. So, while we are very unqualified to answer most of these, we decided to answer your questions on the podcast in a two-part series. One of our favorite questions kicked off the first show from Megan: When you are going through a crowded row at the movies or church, do you scoot in frontsies or backsies?
As a woman, I am always going to go backsies (and if they don’t stand up and I accidentally knock over their popcorn with my butt that’s on them.) Penn feels like maybe you go front for some situations and back for others. In the first episode, we discuss this along with advice about college, making friends, negative comments, and our Top 5 worst pieces of advice we’ve ever received.
Is The Sequel Just As Good?
One of my favorite movies of all time is Weekend at Bernie’s. Honestly, we probably like it as a family too much. But can you believe they tried to make a sequel to this? It was terrible. A lot of sequels aren’t as good as the original, but we try to defy the odds and make our two-part series a success. In the second episode, we tackle communication tips, teens growing up, cryptocurrency, and our Top 5 worst sequels of all time.
What do you need advice on? Listen to our episodes below and tell us what we can answer for you! We can’t guarantee it will be qualified, but we can guarantee you will laugh.
