The Best Subscription Boxes for Kids

Getting a box full of surprises is fun no matter what age you are. Subscription boxes have become a popular way to get new items delivered straight to your door with everything from snacks, to clothes, and even toys for your dog. It’s a fun way to keep on top of trends and many boxes, such as Green Chef, really help simplify your life.

In honor of back-to-school time, we pulled together a list of boxes created especially for kids. Many of these let you buy just one box at a time, making them a great gift for a special occasion. There are boxes for all types of interests, from STEM to boredom busters to fashion.

Creative Kids

Kiwi Co offers a variety of boxes for ages 0-104. They also offer crates based on different interests including tinkering & science, geography & culture, art & design, and early learning. Anything that keeps your kid engaged in a fun activity while also learning is a big win. It’s even better when the kit arrives at your door taking out all of the planning and prep work for the busy parent.

For teens who love to tinker and engineer new things, this Creation Crate sends a new project each month. Recommended for ages 12+, this kit explores creating projects with electronics and C++.

Book Worms

There are many options for book subscriptions based on the child’s age.

Bookaroo has several options from board books all the way through middle school appropriate reading. This option would be great for families with a wide range of ages.

The Equal Opportunity Book Box focuses on books with under-represented characters and inclusive themes. They offer books for ages 0-2 and ages 3-7.

beTWEEN the Bookends offers adorable boxes for tweens that include books as well as some trendy surprises. They also offer one-time box orders making this a great gift option for a friend or family member.

For young adult readers, the Now In Books box comes with a new YA book each month and a curated music playlist to go with the theme of the book. We love that it comes with a discussion guide which would make this subscription easy to use for a teen book club.

Girl Empowerment

The positive and encouraging boxes from Strong Self(ie) can be sent as a gift or ordered as a yearly subscription. The themed boxes offer trendy products with supportive messages for teens and tweens.

We love that Izzy and Liv have created this subscription box especially for tweens & teens of color. They also offer options for younger kids and boxes for women! All of their boxes contain items made by Black woman-owned businesses.

Clothing & Beauty Products

When the thought of taking your kid back-to-school shopping stresses you out, the KidPik box offers a convenient option. You can have clothes for boys and girls delivered to your door, and they offer free shipping, returns, and exchanges.

For teens who love to try new make-up products, the IPSY bag is an affordable monthly subscription. Lola spends some of her allowance on this every month. You start by answering a beauty quiz, and then each month’s order is personalized just for you.

We love this box from Be a Green Girl that includes all clean beauty and eco-friendly items. No subscription is required for this box, and it makes a great gift for a teen who loves trying new beauty products.

For all of you parents sending kids off to college this year, College Care Packages, offers a variety of care packages already put together that you can have delivered. They offer themed boxes, such as Exam Care, Wellness, and Birthday, as well as monthly packages.
