Whenever Penn and I would put together IKEA furniture, we would always joke… “We better get better at this if we’re ever going to be on The Amazing Race.” You see we remember when The Amazing Race first aired back in 2001, and for the last 20 years we’ve watched.
Penn and I both agreed that being on the show was a bucket list item for us. It was a fun dream because in our minds there was a ZERO percent chance it would ever happen.
Until it did.
Racing Around The World… In A Pandemic
We’ve had to keep a secret for almost TWO YEARS that we were competing on The Amazing Race. We left in February 2020 and we were in Europe as the world was shutting down. Due to the unique circumstances of the pandemic, none of the contestants knew what would happen next. We all waited to go back home, joking with each other that we’d have a good story for a cocktail party… the time we were on that weird cancelled season of The Amazing Race. Little did we know, CBS had other plans.
Earlier this year, we left again to finish the competition and we learned a lot about ourselves. Anxiety and ADHD make quite a pair when you’re trying to win a $1 million prize. As the show airs, we are going to be doing weekly recaps on our podcast with fellow contestants on the show. We will talk about each episode and each of our experiences doing the race.
This week we talked about the announcement, why we did the race, and how we were able to go back to finish. Tune in each Friday starting January 7th to hear more in our Amazing Race bonus episodes! (And don’t worry, our regularly scheduled podcast will still be on Tuesdays.) Listen with the links below!
