20 Items Under $20 I Use Everyday

As the world gets crazier, I cling to some semblance of normalcy. My morning and night routines have been exactly the same for a few years. Every once in a while I throw in a new product, most likely courtesy of my teenage daughter. Just last year she taught me that not only do you need a skincare routine, but specifically a lip care routine

I try my best to keep up with trends, but honestly, if I can just get some sunscreen on each day, I’m a happy camper. Here are 20 items I use almost every day, whether I’m getting ready in the morning or out and about on the town.

Makeup Routine

1. CeraVe Suncreen: I cannot stop talking about how important it is to wear sunscreen as you age. Big surprise, the sun is hot! And our sensitive skin can’t take it. If you are headed out for the day, I highly recommend this sunscreen with sheer tint from CeraVe.

2. Voluminous Mascara: They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. Well, I say good mascara is the window to a quick and easy makeup routine. This mascara from L’Oreal Paris has been in my makeup bag for years.

3. Multi-Stick: This Elf multi-stick is a must if you need to stick one item in your tiny purse on the way out the door. Eyeshadow, lipstick, AND blush all in one place? Yes, please.

4. Makeup Brushes: I know there are special cleaning kits for makeup brushes, and I’d love to be that person. But this pack of 10 has lasted me through the year for all my foundation and eyeshadow needs.

5. Makeup Bag: With the amount of travel that Penn and I have been doing lately, sometimes it’s just easier to live out of my makeup bag, rather than unpack it and repack it every trip. This one has a big pocket so I can bring everything I might need and sort through it quickly.

6. Lip Balm: As mentioned above, my daughter has put me on some lip-specific items. This lip balm changes color based on your pH to create a made-for-you pink stain. I have no idea about the science of that but…super cool!

Self Care Time

7. Face Mask: Who doesn’t love a good face mask? I won’t lie, this one looks a little like the Jason mask and freaks my family out. But darn does it feel so hydrating.

8. Lip Scrub: A $4 lip scrub from the ChapStick brand? I know it sounds crazy but this stuff works and feels incredibly hydrating.

9. Lip Mask: So no, I don’t put on a lip mask every day. But if I am planning a night in for some self-care, I’ll grab one of these to add some hydration to my dry lips.

10. Detangling Brush: The UNbrush! If you’ve been chronically online like me, you’ve probably heard of this. It’s a game changer for major tangles.

Around The House

11. Food Scrapers: Look, if you cook all the time and magically never have to scrap your pots and pans…good for you. No matter how hard I try, I will somehow always need to give my dishes a bit of a scrub. These bamboo food scrapers are ergonomic and non-toxic.

12. Repellent Sticks: A quiet joy I enjoy each morning is drinking my coffee on the back porch. But as I live in North Carolina, the bugs are a buzzing. I light one of these mosquito repellent sticks every day so I can enjoy my morning joe in peace.

13. Frother: If you like adding a little milk to your coffee or adore your Athletic Greens drink like me, this frother is a must in your kitchen.

14. Back Massager: This back massager is a game changer. Yes, it looks like a torture device but after some recent neck pain, I use it constantly.

15. Carpet Cleaner: With one dog, two kids, and Penn, spills happen. This carpet cleaner is odor-free and can remove pet accidents, grease, oil, ink, red wine, coffee, blood, rust, food, cosmetics, dirt, and grime.

Out On The Town

16. Sports Bras: When it comes to sports bras, I’m all about comfy not sexy. This one from Target is exactly that…and I own it in 5 colors. Of course, the bra pads come out in the wash. But our recent DIY video can help you figure out what to do with those.

17. Biker Shorts: While we are on the topic of workout clothes, these biker shorts are my go-to. They are the perfect length and don’t ride up.

18. Phone Charger: Why does it seem our phones run out of battery at the most inopportune times? I throw this small portable phone charger into my bag whenever I go out as a backup.

19. Belt Bag: I know I’ve mentioned it many times before but my mini belt bag (aka fanny pack) goes with me everywhere. Yes, I have it in black but apparently, it comes in 30 colors.

20. Sunglasses: You can truly never have enough sunglasses. I buy a few off Amazon every year and store them in all the places I might need them.
