Beliefs That Don’t Serve Us

Last week we wrote a blog called Stuff I Used To Think Was True. I shared 3 mantras that I used to live by (even tell my kids) that now I am trying to unravel. I was overwhelmed and moved by all the old beliefs you shared with me that don’t serve you anymore. For example, the cliche that “everything happens for a reason” isn’t always true. Sometimes bad things just happen to people and you have to make the most of what you’re dealt.

On our podcast, we discuss my original blog post, your contributions, and some new beliefs we’ve hung our hat on. For example, we believe that “hard work pays off, you just don’t always know how.” Penn and I have worked hard in our careers and on our business. But it wasn’t always easy. We definitely didn’t have what we do today in mind when we started on this journey over 8 years ago. You can’t always predict how things will turn out in the end.

Practice Makes Progress

Penn and I loved discussing your comments on popular sayings like “practice makes perfect” and “blood is thicker than water.” We shared how we continue to encourage our kids to work hard, but not set them with expectations that can’t be reached. We also talk a lot about lottery number science and fortune cookies… so there’s that.

What did we miss? Let us know in the comments. Happy listening.
