When it comes to asking your teenager for gift ideas, some show up with a powerpoint presentation of what they want…while others just shrug their shoulders and mumble, “whatevs.” If you’ve got a sporty kid like me, here are some of my favorite gift options.
Beats Headphones
When it comes to headphones, you can’t go wrong with a pair of Beats. It seems all the kids these days love the over-the-ear style. Plus 40 hours of battery life for those kids who are always forgetting to put their tech on the charger. I even have my eye on those rose gold ones. 👀
Rogue Starter Acoustic Guitar
We have 10 too many guitars hanging around our house, but if your teen is ALL SPORTS this might be the perfect gift. Plus, acoustic guitars are definitely not as loud as the drum set we got PC last year. (0 out of 10 do not recommend.) This guitar is a bit smaller so it’s perfect for beginners.
Spikeball
Our Spikeball set has been a beach trip staple for a few years now. It’s super easy to learn and compact enough to travel with. If you’ve got a competitive kid, this is a perfect outlet for laidback matches between 4 friends.
Crossnet
Even if you don’t have a volleyball devotee in the house, this new spin on the classic is super fun. The rules combine four square and volleyball to be fun for the whole family. The net can be adjusted to 3 different heights so can play with little ones or the tallest teens.
Light up Basketball
I’m pretty sure if my son could play basketball all through the night, he totally would. However, I try to get him inside by sunset. This light-up basketball lets him practice a few more layups before dinnertime.(Improved performance on the court is not guaranteed.)
Recovery Slippers
If you ever walk into our house, you’ll find a few pairs of these lying around. We are big fans of Oofos, Penn especially, as comfy slides to reduce stress on your joints. If you need your kid out of those stinky sneakers, put a pair of these under the Christmas tree.
Life Skills for Teens Book
As I raise a teenager headed off to college very soon, I’m realizing that there is a long list of life skills I need to cover that she’s definitely not getting at school. This book covers cooking, cleaning, money management, car maintenance, and beyond. Honestly, I might need to read this book over her shoulder.
Rubik’s Cube Phantom
A rubik’s cube that only reveals colors through heat technology? The rubik’s cube has always eluded me but I might just need to buy this one for Penn as well. Your competitive kid will be obsessed.
Disc Golf Set
Similar to the fashion of the 80s, it seems disc golf is making its comeback. Also, did you all know there are different types of frisbees for disc golf? A driver? A putter? I truly just thought you tried your best to aim a frisbee at a net. Since we have a pretty amazing disc golf course at our local park, this seems like the perfect gift for my athletic teen.
Hidden Pocket Scrunchies
Cute AND useful? These velvet scrunchies are perfect for throwing your hair up to run or play sports…and a great spot to store a key or a few bucks. I can see Lola rocking these on her wrist when she hangs out with friends.
Selkirk Paddles
Can’t have a gift guide without a little bit of self-promo. This bundle pack from Selkirk is an affordable kit with everything you need to get started with pickleball. I promise once you start playing, you won’t want to stop. It’s addicting.
Pop It Pro
Maybe it’s just my TikTok feed but it seems this is popping up everywhere (pun intended). Both of the kids have asked for this year for Christmas. The light-up version is the electronic sister of the original fidget toy and, I’ll admit, looks super fun.
